What should you keep in mind?
Just like 401(k) accounts, employees must wait until they are 59½ years old to withdraw and have a choice of two types of 403(b) accounts: Traditional and Roth.
Similar to Traditional 401(k) accounts, Traditional 403(b) contributions are taken from pre-taxed income and then taxed upon withdrawal during retirement. Early withdrawals are subject to a 10 percent penalty.
Roth 403(c) are akin to Roth 401(k) accounts in many ways. Contributions are taken from already-taxed income and available for withdrawal upon retirement. Early withdrawals will result in penalty fees on the earnings.
